Salt of the earth, salting the earth,
the problem with you is that you keep
trying to use your brain to make decisions
when we all know your heart is the best
of you. I know you think it’s made
bad choices, but the problem is you’re
still using words like think or choice.
What do you feel under your feet?
Growing.
What do you feel inside you?
The ocean is going to come to meet
us anyway, it will raze all we’ve
known to the ground, so why can’t you
stop your work for a moment to do
this more important work of being alive?
Let’s try again: what do you feel
inside you? The wind will help you
answer, if you let it. Let it whisper:
you.
